In The Field Update | Planting Progress
It's that time of year again. Crop producers are out in full force, putting seed in the ground. Our team headed out near Aurora, Nebraska earlier this week to catch up with a producer and see how things are shaping up as planting season gets underway.
Farmers have long relied on tried-and-true methods like counting wheat stands and spikes to gauge early- or mid-season crop productivity. But those methods can be time-consuming and don't always fit well with today's high-yielding wheat varieties. Now, new technologies like image-based tools and spectral reflectance techniques are helping producers estimate yield more quickly and accurately.

Earlier this week senator’s Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts made a stop in Lincoln to talk about the possible renewal of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, set to expire at the end of the year. Also known as TCJA, this legislation has provided significant tax relief for agricultural producers since it was first passed, and its future could have a big impact on farm and ranch operations across the state.
